Plastic Media

Lightweight plastic media for deburring and surface preparation of aluminium, zinc, brass and soft metals without marking.

Applications

  • Aluminium castings and extrusions
  • Zinc and brass die-cast parts
  • Matting before anodising and painting
  • Thin-walled parts

Working Principle

Plastic media are produced from abrasive grains mixed into polyester or urea resin. Being lighter than ceramic media they leave no impact marks on soft metals, so they are preferred for aluminium, zinc, brass and copper parts. Cone, pyramid and triangle forms reach the corners and holes of the part easily.

During abrasion they leave a matte, homogeneous texture on the surface, which is an ideal base for painting, anodising and plating.

Advantages

  • No marks on soft metals
  • Homogeneous matte surface
  • Lightweight, no part deformation
  • Different form and size options
